Aerial Toll Houses Part 2
art by Maruhana-bachi on deviantArt
Aerial toll houses refers to a controversial teaching held by many Eastern Orthodox Saints and Eastern Orthodox Christians, about the immediate state of the soul after death. According to this doctrine, “following a person’s death the soul leaves the body, and is escorted to God by angels. During this journey the soul passes through an aerial realm, which is inhabited by demons. The soul encounters these demons at various points referred to as ‘toll-houses’ where the demons then attempt to accuse it of sin and, if possible, drag the soul into hell.” The Aerial toll house teaching is somewhat similar to ones found in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Both teachings are concerned with the time period immediately after death and describe the being’s encounters with wrathful deities in various aerial realms.
There is a total of 20 toll houses but the artist has only represented 15 of them. Toll houses in this post:
- Toll-house of remembering evil

I hate you. My soul is missing. I know you took it. I miss smiling and happiness is an outdated concept. Karma will come for you with a baseball bat, and when your blood stains the earth, I will smile. I built my castle and I will also tear it down. If you had a heart I would eat it, if you had a soul I would steal it. But I’m not cruel so I’ll just leave you alone.
I’m a friend of the devils. Are you a friend of mine?
want to find an abandoned house so i can just write.
